Legacy BMgt Registration Information

This information is intended for Faculty of Management students registered in the Bachelor of Management (BMgt) who are not planning to transfer to the new Bachelor of Commerce program.

BMgt degree students are encouraged to check that they are meeting prerequisite and corequisite requirements for their courses as soon as possible.  For second-year electives and course planning suggestions see the “Year 2” tab on our BMGT Course Planning webpage. The following seven 200-level courses are required for the BMgt degree.

2025-26 Winter Session, Term 1 (Sept – Dec) 2025-26 Winter Session, Term 2 (Jan – Apr)
MGMT_O 201 COMM_O 398* (in place of MGMT_O 290)
MGMT_O 220 MGMT_O 202
MGMT_O 230 MGMT_O 240
MGMT_O 250

*Year 2 BMgt students who have successfully completed MGMT_O 100, MGMT_O 110, and 3 credits of ENGL_O will receive a prerequisite waiver allowing them to register for COMM_O 398 without meeting the third-year standing requirement.

BMgt degree students who have not already completed all BMgt Year 1 core courses, are strongly encouraged to prioritize these. Year 1 core courses, alone or in combination, make up the prerequisites for 200-level core courses.

The BMgt degree has space for 27 credits (typically 9 courses) of elective coursework outside of MGMT_O and COMM_O. We strongly encourage students pursuing the BMgt degree to use Term 1 and Term 2 to complete some of those electives. Non-MGMT_O and non-COMM_O elective credits can be satisfied with 100-, 200-, 300- and 400-level courses and must be from outside of MGMT_O and COMM_O.

There are four 300-level core courses required for the BMgt degree and we recommend students complete them in the third year in the program.

2025-26 Winter Session, Term 1 (Sept – Dec) 2025-26 Winter Session, Term 2 (Jan – Apr)
MGMT_O 310 MGMT_O 380
MGMT_O 355
MGMT_O 481 (in place of MGMT_O 360)

*Year 3 BMgt students who have successfully completed MGMT_O 230 will receive a prerequisite waiver allowing them to register for MGMT_O 481.

Please note:There may be courses offered in only one term. Be aware of this as you plan your course schedule. If you have not already completed all of the 200-level MGMT courses, it is highly recommended that you prioritize these when planning your courses.

The BMgt degree has space for 27 credits (typically 9 courses) of elective coursework outside of MGMT_O and COMM_O. We strongly encourage students pursuing the BMgt degree to use Term 1 and Term 2 to complete some of those electives. 9 credits of the upper-level elective requirements may be satisfied with a combination of non-MGMT_O, non-COMM_O, and MGMT_O, COMM_O courses at the 300- or 400-level. For BMgt degree-specific elective and course planning suggestions, see the “Year 3 & 4” tab on our webpage.

Accounting in BMGT

Students in the BMgt CPA track should take MGMT_O 300, MGMT_O 304, and MGMT_O 329D. Upper-level accounting courses have prerequisites, so plan accordingly. These courses meet the admission requirements for the Chartered Professional Accountant Professional Education Program (CPA PEP) for the BMgt degree. For more details, visit the BMGT course planning page and consult an Academic and Career Advisor.

You are encouraged to check that you are meeting prerequisite and corequisite requirements for your courses as soon as possible. Course requirements will be enforced. We are offering some upper-level elective courses that may be new to you in the 2025-26 Winter Session, including:

2025-26 Winter Session, Term 1 (Sept – Dec) 2025-26 Winter Session, Term 2 (Jan – Apr)
COMM_O 398 – Indigenous Business COMM_O 303 – Strategic Staffing
MGMT_O 319B – AI in Business MGMT_O 329D – Data Analytics
MGMT_O 412 – Negotiations MGMT_O 436 – Investments
MGMT_O 471 – Applied Health Economics MGMT_O 439A – FinTech
MGMT_O 445 – Digital and Social Media Marketing

The BMGT degree requires a minimum of 120 credits with specific program requirements, including 60% or higher in the coursework being used to satisfy your BMgt English requirement. We encourage students to review the BMgt program specific requirements in the Academic Calendar ahead of registration.

MGMT_O 490 Capstone is the only required 400-level MGMT_O course, and it is offered in both Term 1 and Term 2. Students must complete a minimum of 18 credits of upper-level (300- and 400-level) MGMT_O or COMM_O electives. Additionally, 9 more credits can be fulfilled with either MGMT_O, COMM_O or non-MGMT_O, non-COMM_O electives at the 300- or 400-level. For specific fourth-year electives and course planning, visit the “Year 3&4” tab on our webpage.

It’s important to note anything above 15 credits per term is considered a very heavy course load. If you are considering registering in more than 15 credits, we strongly recommend speaking with an Academic and Career Advisor.

Accounting Courses

Our accounting courses meet program admission requirements for students planning to apply to the Chartered Professional Accountant Professional Education Program (CPA PEP). Please refer to the course planning  webpage for more information.

Preparing for graduation in June 2026

Fourth-year students intending to graduate during the May 2026 convocation period will be required to submit an application in order to be eligible for graduation. Further details on how to apply will be sent to you towards the end of 2025.

Important Considerations for September 2025

COMM_O and MGMT_O courses can be used to meet COMM_O or MGMT_O requirements in the Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Management programs. COMM_O and MGMT_O courses cannot be used to fulfill non-COMM_O or non-MGMT_O course requirements.

Registration Appointment

You will receive an email to let you know when your registration appointment is viewable in Workday. Your date and time may change, check Workday regularly for up-to-date registration information.

Registration changes can be made any time between your registration open date and the course withdrawal date. Learn how to view your registration appointment in Workday. You can begin creating saved schedules in Workday, where you can plan out your classes for the upcoming academic session in preparation for registration.

You must register your saved schedules for Term 1 and Term 2 separately. When you are building your Term 2 saved schedule you may get alerts that you are not eligible for some courses. This may be because you have the prerequisites on your Term 1 saved schedule. Once you register in your Term 1 courses, you will be able to register for Term 2.

Course Planning

Students commonly register in four to six courses per term (12 – 16 credits). Please note anything above this is considered a very heavy course load. If you are considering registering in more than 16 credits, we strongly recommend speaking with an Academic and Career Advisor.
