Message from the Dean

Faculty of Management Dean, Gady Jacoby, poses in front of the Okanagan Valley

Dean Gady Jacoby with the Faculty of Management

I would like to begin by acknowledging that the land on which we gather, live, and learn is the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Syilx (Okanagan) Peoples.

As I assume the role of Dean of the Faculty of Management at UBC Okanagan, I am excited about the opportunity to join such a dynamic and diverse community. It is a privilege to be part of an institution that excels in education, research, and leadership.

My journey to UBC Okanagan has been shaped by diverse academic and leadership experiences, which I am eager to bring to our Faculty. Together, with our talented and dedicated faculty and staff and our ambitious students, we will navigate the Faculty of Management into its next exciting chapter.

My leadership is guided by a commitment to creating an inclusive and equitable environment where everyone feels respected and valued. I am dedicated to enhancing the student experience, supporting groundbreaking research, and fostering a diverse and vibrant community. A key priority is building meaningful connections with the Okanagan region, particularly through collaboration with Indigenous communities, especially the Okanagan Nation. Through shared knowledge and mutual learning, we can co-create opportunities that benefit our entire community.

The Faculty of Management is a hub of innovation, collaboration, and support. Our goal is to create an environment where every student, faculty member, and staff member feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential. I encourage you to visit us at the Engineering, Management, and Education (EME) Building at 1137 Alumni Avenue.

To those new to our community, welcome. The Faculty of Management is committed to your success. The relationships you build here—both academic and social—are as important as the knowledge you gain. These connections will enrich your university experience and lay a strong foundation for your future.

We stand at a pivotal moment, ready to push the boundaries of business education and practice. Together, we will redefine leadership, drive innovation, and tackle the challenges of our time. I look forward to working with each of you on this exciting journey.

Sincerely,

Gady Jacoby

Dean, Faculty of Management
