Presented by the Faculty of Management and proudly sponsored by Argus Properties Ltd. The Live Case Challenge is a signature experiential education activity for third-year Bachelor of Management students.

The Live Case Challenge is an exciting learning opportunity for Bachelor of Management students. In this dynamic activity as part of MGMT 360 – Business Conditions Analysis, teams of students run simulated businesses within a closed market of their peers, applying their classroom knowledge to the simulated business environment.

Over multiple simulated business years, teams make strategic decisions in finance, marketing, strategy, and operations, competing to achieve the strongest performance across multiple factors. With immediate feedback on their business outcomes, students continuously refine their strategies, enhance their teamwork skills, and improve their ability to present results effectively.

The challenge culminates in the ultimate competition for the prestigious Argus Cup and cash prizes. It’s an unparalleled chance to test your business acumen, gain hands-on experience, and showcase your skills.

Are you ready to take on the challenge?

History of Live Case Challenge

Since its inception in 2011, the Faculty of Management has partnered with nine regional businesses and organizations to deliver the Live Case Challenge. These collaborations provided students with in-depth studies, helping them develop critical management skills by tackling pressing business challenges faced by local companies.

In 2024, the Live Case Challenge evolved into its current format, where students now engage in this unique learning experience through a simulated business environment, competing against their peers in a closed market. This new approach further enhances the challenge by immersing students in a competitive, decision-making process that mirrors the complexities of the business world.

The nine esteemed case partners from 2011 to 2020 include:

  • Disney Club Penguin
  • HuStream – Accelerate Okanagan
  • South Okanagan-Similkameen Healthy Living Coalition
  • Totalamber
  • City of Kelowna
  • SunRype
  • Probuilders Home Hardware
  • Telemark
  • Patriot One Technologies

Each of these partners has make a valuable contribution to shaping the Live Case Challenge into the impactful experiential education opportunity it is today.
