Biography:

Prior to moving to Kelowna and joining the Faculty of Management in 2013, Svan worked for over 15 years in global business. After her Ph.D research into organizational transformation and managing a team-based culture (when AT&T acquired NCR in New Zealand), Svan worked as a management consultant for Deloitte, a technology consultant and later in senior management at SAP and in sales management for T-Systems (part of Deutsche Telekom). Svan has extensive experience working in different countries, has managed diverse teams across different geographies, has negotiated contracts subject to changing international trade conditions, has led organizational change programs and technology driven innovation with individual companies and as part of new governmental regulations for smart energy.

In addition to teaching, Svan takes an active role in student clubs and is the dedicated Faculty Advisor for the team that UBC Okanagan sends to the JDC West Competition. Outside of teaching, Svan enjoys the outdoors. Svan can often be found on Big White in winter and hiking the trails around the Okanagan and adjacent mountains throughout the summer.
