The application process for the UBC Okanagan Business Co-op Program is designed to identify students who are motivated to grow professionally, engage meaningfully in experiential learning, and represent the Faculty of Management in professional workplace settings.
Through a holistic review process, we look for students who demonstrate professionalism, curiosity, communication skills, and a strong interest in building career-ready experience alongside their academic studies.

Your application
The application is completed through Canvas and consists of three key components:
- Personal and academic profile: You’ll provide some basic details, like your name, contact information. This helps to confirm your eligibility for the co-op program.
- Experience and reflection: Share your story. We look for a demonstrated commitment to personal and professional development through past work, volunteer, or coursework experiences.
- Video interview: This is your chance to speak directly to us. You’ll record short video responses to a few questions so we can get a sense of how you communicate and present yourself—essential traits for success in competitive business environments.
How are applications evaluated?
Admission to the UBC Okanagan Business Co-op Program is competitive, and applications are reviewed holistically. We look beyond grades to understand each student’s potential for professional growth, workplace success, and meaningful engagement in the Co-op experience.
Successful applicants typically demonstrate:
A clear understanding of why they want to pursue Co-op and how professional work-integrated learning connects to their academic, personal, and career goals. Students should be excited about exploring career pathways, gaining experience, and learning through professional practice.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to present themselves professionally throughout the application process, including written and video components.
Initiative, curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to actively participate in career development programming, networking opportunities, and the job search process.
A demonstrated ability to balance academic responsibilities with professional and experiential learning opportunities while maintaining good academic standing.
Co-op is designed for students who are motivated to challenge themselves, build meaningful professional experience, and take an active role in shaping their career journey.
Program costs
A one-time Co-op Administration and Workshop fee of $288.25* due when you accept your offer into the Business Co-op Program (waived for eligible Indigenous students).
Each time you participate in a Co-op work term, you will be registered into a Co-op work term course and pay the course tuition fee – $889.00*
Registration in the Co-op work term course is mandatory and maintains your full-time student status with UBC.
You will receive non-academic credits per Co-op work term course (these credits do not count towards your academic degree requirements.
