UBC’s Bachelor of Management prepares students for graduate school, professional programs, and employment in any context or organization.

Understand how to navigate today’s rapidly changing world through intensive collaboration and teamwork, critical thinking, and an appreciation for shared solutions.

Learning is enriched with practical challenges, connections with local communities, and experience from the Capstone Service Learning and Consulting course.

Experience management education, integrated with arts and sciences, in this UBC program which offers a variety of foundational and advanced courses. Focus your studies on accounting, entrepreneurial technology, finance, human resources, marketing, sustainability, and operations/supply chain management, while embracing the Faculty of Management’s cross-disciplinary approach to education.

Minors

This program also offers opportunities to complete a minor in Computer Science, Cultural Studies, Economics, Sociology, or Psychology.

Management courses first to fourth year

In your first year at UBC’s Okanagan campus, some sample compulsory courses include: Management 100 (Introduction to Business), Management 110 (Introduction to Management Thought and Social Responsibility), and Economics 101 (Principles of Microeconomics).

The second year of the program includes 21 credits of compulsory management courses, introducing you to financial accounting, managerial accounting, marketing, organizational behaviour, management communications, information technology management, and business conditions analysis.

You will use your third and fourth years of study to deepen your understanding of management. In addition to 12 credits of compulsory coursework in your third year, you will have the opportunity to choose upper-level management courses, enabling either focused preparation for a specific career path or generalized studies to expand your breadth of knowledge, or prepare you for advanced studies.

The program intensifies with the Management 490 Capstone Course, a hands-on learning experience for you to work with a team of students to address problems facing partner organizations and drive real-life solutions.

On the first day of university, faculties offer “Meet the Dean” sessions where you can get to know the Dean, professors, and the staff who provide student support. It’s all part of UBC Okanagan’s new student orientation: CREATE.

Attend an orientation tailored to your needs as an aboriginal student, domestic student, international student, or student living in residence. You can even register your parents for an orientation that includes a workshop and campus tour.

  • Peer mentors are a great resource — ask questions and learn from students who’ve been there, done that.
  • Navigate your studies with the help of an academic advisor.
  • Use the library which offers print, audiovisual and electronic research materials, a leisure-reading collection and loaner laptops. It also offers research consultations, instruction and workshops.
  • The library’s Writing and Resource Centre can help you articulate your ideas. Pursue your research in a range of subject areas and scholarly genres, including essay writing, grammar, presentation skills, punctuation, thesis development, and coursework.
  • Familiarize yourself with resources designed to help you succeed. Student Services offers a variety of academic supports, from study sessions to tutoring and writing workshops.
